Type 45 Destroyer Model 1750mm Long

A blend of old and new technologies ... Commisioned as a centrepiece for the DSEI show to illustrate MNL’s in-house capabilities. The data for the model was captured from a 1:350 scale model. The hull and helicopter were laser scanned and the subsequent data scaled up and 3D-printed via stereolithography [SLA]. The rest of the model was manufactured via traditional modelling methods.
  • 1750mm long 1:87.5 scale model.
  • Faithful reproduction.
  • Intricate detail maintaining accuracy.
This magnificent model is a true testiment to the capabilities of Malcolm Nicholls Limited.

Other Exhibits on the Stand

Other exhibits on the stand at DSEI were examples of historical significance to the Defence sector. Artilliary guns that were used as sales aids backed in the 1970s topped the "stack". Modern 3D printing examples of how MNL help Product development were on show as well as Series production examples from silicone tools. Other smaller scale models also formed part of the exhibits on show.
